King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital Riyadh

KKesh1 King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital is a 288 bed tertiary care center specializing in the treatment of Eye related disorders and disorders. The hospital is located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia near the new Diplomatic Quarter and in proximity to King Saud University. The hospital employs approximately 72 staff physicians with expertise in the full range of ophthalmology. It also provides support services in anesthesia, internal medicine, pediatrics, pathology and radiology. The associated housing complex provides accommodation for 950 hospital employees and ancillary staff. Hospital Operation of this facility is carried out by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

King Khaled bin Abdulaziz al Saudi opened the hospital in November 1983 and it has become one of the primary treatment centers for eye disease in the Middle East Region. In addition to comprehensive eye care, KKESH has developed education and research programs and has also become a training center for Saudi Ophthalmologists and related healthcare professionals.

Inpatient facilities include 228 beds distributed over five floors. There are single and triple rooms as well as VIP rooms. The hospital has 12 operating suites which are fully equipped with state of the art ceiling mounted operating microscopes. It follows the latest trends in ambulatory surgery procedures and ensures that patients receive the best ophthalmic treatment available.

In addition there is a complete range of diagnostic services, including full service clinical laboratory, diagnostic imaging and eye pathology. The hospital also has an accredited eye bank and research laboratory.

The outpatient department provides treatment for more than 100,000 patients per annum in 12 clinics and 53 examination rooms.

Staff at the hospital consists of multi-nationalities from 23 different countries. Physician jobs exist in areas of Anesthesia, Pathology, Ophthalmology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Medical Imaging. Physicians must hold a Medical Degree and a Board Certification from the United States, Canada or Western Europe and a minimum of 3 years post board experience.

The Housing complex occupies an area of 200,000 sq.meter and is located adjacent to the main hospital building. It has various types of accommodation including three bedroom villas, apartments of one, two or three bedrooms, studios and efficiencies. There are approx. 1,300 housing units within the complex. The compound provides residents with grass lawns, trees, shrubs, gardens, playgrounds, walkways, pathways and parking areas. There is also a supermarket, a bank, a travel agent and a post office.

The Recreation center provides staff and their families with leisure and fitness facilities which include swimming pool, weight room’s, aerobics, kung fu, dining hall, cinema, library, youth activity room, table tennis and darts.
